  KOUMEIKA

The first settlers came to the village from the city of Kymi in Evoia Island. The inhabitants are fishermen or farmers who grow olive-trees and onions. 15 minutes outside the village, there is Balos Beach which is awarded the blue flag of the European Union. There you can find bars a restaurants as well as a small dock for sailing-ships. Near Koumaiika, in an area called Agios Konstantinos, there are the remains of an ancient temple and curved tombstones. In Koumaiika, there is a certain type of puddle, used for insulation, which in time becomes yellow and extremely hard, as well as a puddle with blue and white shades, used for making soap. In the village's square, there are taverns and coffee-shops.
