  PLATANOS

Platanos village is surrounded by Mt. Kerkes, Marathokambos and Karlovasi's sea. It was first settled in 1641 by people that came from Evoia Island. It was named after the many plane-trees (platanos in Greek) growing in the area. Its citizens grow vineyards. The air in Platanos is cool and refreshing but during wintertime it is extremely cold. In Platanos, there are many    traditional festivities with live music, food and homemade wine. In Platanos, you can also find a monument of the National Resistance during World War II.
